Historic Leesburg Virginia

  • History

Established in 1758, Leesburg is the seat of government for Loudoun County. The town's rich history spans four centuries and Leesburg’s unique position on the dividing line between North and South during the Civil War led to an active, complex, and often contradictory role in history. Many significant historic sites to visit in and around town!

  • Arts & Culture

The Leesburg Arts and Cultural District connects local artists, creatives and visitors with scores of galleries, studios, public art installations and live music and performing arts spaces in and around historic downtown Leesburg. The district features no less than 12 galleries and workspaces and at least a dozen pieces of public art.

  • Innovation

Loudoun County’s only cat cafe (Catty Corner). A Makerspace open to the public. Dessert cafe with afternoon teas (Mocatinas). Fair trade boutique with a make your own candle bar (The Global Local). Interactive arts and crafts store with ready-to-go project kits (CRAFT). A collective of over 15 female-founded small biz start-ups (King Street Collective). And SO much more -unique offerings found here!

Main Street District

We work to serve the historic business district of our downtown area, as defined by these parameters set out by the Virginia Main Street organization.

“The primary focus area of the downtown district will be defined by the W & OD Trail on the south of town, Cornwall Street on the north, Liberty Street on the west, and the Triangle past Harrison Street on the east of town.”

If you own a business outside of the district as defined but would still like to get involved with our work please email leesburgmovement@gmail.com - we have volunteer and/or sponsorship opportunities available for you!
